Can BestInterest help if I'm coparenting with an abuser?
Yes. BestInterest gives you tools to reduce exposure to harmful communication, keep records, and choose when to engage—even when your coparent will not use the app.
Reduce harmful wording and interruptions
On Protect and Protect Plus, Message Shield filters incoming messages and keeps the original available separately. Emotional Safety settings let you hide original wording, blur images, and reduce notification pressure.
Smart Silence can hold routine alerts for a digest while messages classified as urgent bypass that schedule. Urgency detection can make mistakes, and alerts still require an enabled notification channel and working device settings. It is not a guarantee that an emergency will be detected or delivered.
Get perspective before responding
Coparent Coach offers private guidance. Tone Guardian, included with Protect and higher, reviews outgoing messages before you choose what to send.
Keep a clear record
Messages handled by BestInterest retain their original wording. Use the private Journal to record your observations and Verified Reports to share selected records with a professional. BestInterest cannot verify that every statement or allegation is true.
In Solo Mode, Boundary Line adds SMS and phone communication on Connect and higher. Your coparent continues using their phone. See how to use BestInterest independently.
These tools support your boundaries and documentation. Follow any applicable communication order or safety plan; contact local emergency services for immediate danger.
