Why “Delivered” Isn’t Always Proof of Delivery

Delivered is a service status. It does not establish that a person read or understood your message.

Boundary Line in Solo Mode

SMS and MMS delivery updates come from the messaging provider and carrier network. A Delivered update reports delivery through that network; it is not a read receipt. Carrier reports can be incomplete or inaccurate, and phone filtering or blocking can affect what the recipient sees.

Open the message and tap its underlined status to review Delivery History. If delivery fails or stays unresolved, follow message delivery troubleshooting before sending another copy.

Collaborative Mode

Messages exchanged between linked BestInterest accounts can have in-app Read status and a recorded read time. That records an action by the recipient’s account, rather than independently proving who held the device or understood the content.

See delivery status meanings for Sending, Sent, Delivered, Read, Failed, and Undelivered.

Keep a usable record

Verified message reports preserve the available message text and recorded status information. A certificate verifies the generated record; it does not guarantee proof of receipt or a particular legal conclusion. Check submission requirements with the professional or court receiving your records.
