What Is Shared With My Coparent?
At BestInterest, we understand how sensitive co-parenting situations can be — and how important it is to feel safe and in control of your information.
Here’s how we handle the details you provide in the app:
What Is Not Shared With Your Coparent
The following information is never shared with your coparent:
- Any notes you enter in your private journal
- Your support requests or messages with the BestInterest team
- Any flags or tags you set for inappropriate or concerning messages
- Any messages exchanged with the AI Coparent Coach
- Any revisions or drafts you make prior to sending the final version of your message
- Private events on your Parenting Calendar not shared with your coparent
- Your notification schedule or how often you elect to be notified of new messages
- Your personal profile information, email address, birthday.
This information is used only to help you — not your coparent.
What Can Be Viewed By Your Coparent
BestInterest is designed for transparency and legal readiness. Messages that you send through the messaging feature can be seen by your coparent, just like a typical messaging app.
You should also know:
- Only messages you choose to send will be visible to your coparent
- We never send anything automatically on your behalf
- If you’re writing a message for review, it won’t be shared until you choose to send it
- You can always view and edit your messages before they’re sent
Other information that is shared with your coparent when your accounts are linked in Collaborative Mode:
- Family and custody context you provide for the AI Coach such as the information in Family Profile
- Events you agree to share on the shared Parenting Calendar
- Tasks that you create or share on the Tasks & Todos screen
- Expenses that you submit for reimbursement
- The timestamp when you read messages they’ve sent you
- Your first and last name is shared to ensure proper account linking
Using the AI Coach
When you use the AI Coach, it may use your shared custody information, past message history, and your profile to help generate better, more relevant message suggestions — for example, understanding if you’re in a high-conflict situation or managing transitions between two households. This context is for your benefit only and is never shared with your coparent.
